    The first casino was established in Venice in 1638. It was the first public gambling house and was called “Il Ridotto”. Il Ridotto was owned by the state and was used to generate money to fund the city’s public projects. The tables at Il Ridotto were very interesting. There were a variety of different games, including a game called “Biribi” which is similar to modern-day Keno. 

      The first legal casino in the United States was established in Nevada in 1931. It was called The El Dorado Club and was the first casino to offer legal gambling in the state. This casino was the first step in the development of what is now known as “Sin City.” Las Vegas became the gambling capital of the United States, and today it is home to some of the most famous casinos in the world.
